Minutes of the Meeting of Mendip Cycling Club on Wednesday 12th September at 19:00

Present at meeting:
Paul Knight, Mark Usher, Danny Richards, Carlo Degregorio, Keith Lamb, Steve Court, Joe Degregorio, Clive Eve, Paulo Nicodemi, Martin Waller, Ed Collins, Ian Carpenter, Colin Dibble & Michelle Blackmore.
Iain Hounsell, Nigel Plant Minutes of Previous meeting – reviewed and agreed Club Constitution – adopted and signed by Chairman Matters Arising

1)    Financial Report – BBQ recorded a profit of £39 from £75 takings. Bank a/c balance of approx £640 excludes money owed to members for kit issues, race numbers, registration & affiliation fees. Waiting for all signatures so transfer of account from Edric as signatory can be completed, statements can then be requested and PJK can reconcile.
2)    Kit Issues – apologies to Iain Hounsell for hassle & hot tempers he encountered while trying to resolve the many issues. On behalf of the club Iain negotiated the following 35% from the manufacturer & a further 10% from the supplier. Many thanks to Iain
3)    Four Mendip CC Jerseys are available in XXL at a cost of £40 – spk PJK
4)    Membership cards to be issued where members can include emergency contact details (Ian Carpenter offered to laminate for members). An alternative was suggested by way of Road ID wrist bands Danny Richards agreed to look into group/club discount on these wristbands.
5)    Signing in sheet for all non members who attend a club ride we also agreed to collect emergency contact details. Suggested any novice riders attending should buddy up with an experienced rider, who can advise on road craft of riding safely in a group. A fee of £2 to be collected from non members after their 1st ride. Saturday & Sunday rides will continue.
6)    Michelle agreed to set up an email group (yahoo) so that all members receive any club news & updates.
7)    Iain Hounsell received an email from Somer Valley CC, as they would like to run an ‘open’ TT event next year, & asked if we could provide volunteer support, it was suggested that we get more info beforehand.
8)    Option of a dedicated Mendip CC website, Michelle agreed to set up the site initially with Paul & Ed being editors/moderators. Members present agreed to allocate £25 fee to set up & maintain website.
9)    Keith Lamb suggested the club have a challenging club ride for a local charity, Danny suggested London to Paris.
10)    Training camp or cycling break (week or long weekend) Paul said he would look into options available.
11)    Paul suggested we should have a club championship & club dinner, members agreed this would be a good idea.
12)    Michelle has recently formed Mendip Triathlon Club, & asked if the club would like to affiliate to them, we would have access to their members’ website & Mendip CC would have a link on their site, access to training advice, able to take part in product reviews & free publicity as well as other benefits. There was some concern around club kit being a copy of Mendip CC but these were unfounded as there are clear differences in their design. The majority of club members agreed to affiliation. Mendip Tri members would pay half price 1st year membership, with subsequent years being at the regular cost of £10.
13)    Joe & Danny asked about Club casual wear such as T shirts, sweat tops etc, Michelle agreed she would get some prices & more info from us.
14)    Michelle asked if we would like to have a combined Mendip Tri & Mendip CC club photo, Members present agreed we would meet on Sunday 16 September at around 10am at Burnham on Sea.
15)    Danny Richards suggested an open evening next year at Sparks transport from a road safety perspective to get a feel for a lorry driver’s eye view of what they see & a cyclist’s perspective, to promote safety & awareness. Members felt it was a good idea. It would be good to encourage publicity of this event for as many cyclists from the area/region to come along.

    Dont see why tri club members get half price membership you can get all they offer from the internet for free.Still, not my problem anymore
